What We Do

What We Do
We’ve been creating, maintaining, and growing behavioral health programs in Hawaii since 1997. We pride ourselves on offering innovative models of service delivery. Our “out of the box” solutions help non-profits boost their service offerings, keep the risks of expansion minimal, and stay under-budget.

We’ve grown to manage over $4 Million in mental health budgets every year. Remember the Felix Consent Decree? That’s how we got our start writing proposals and creating programs to help children and families on Maui. We develop assessment, counseling, psychotherapy, psychiatry, and case management programs that serve thousands of clients, with up to 100 credentialed providers. Our Maui Counseling Group, in concert with Aloha House, provides over 1,000 counseling visits per month to Maui residence.

All of Maui Nui Served
We’ve expanded our services to Hana, Moloka’i and Lana’i, too. We added services for adults, including our innovative Intensive Family Therapy model of wraparound treatment for Child Welfare Service-referred families. Soon, we expanded to offer Intensive Case Management, Community-Based Case Management, and Crisis Services (including Crisis Mobile Outreach) for adults. We recently added Crisis Mobile Outreach for children and adolescents, too.

Home and Community Based

We’ve been doing home and community-based services since 1997. Going out into the field is the best way to help clients make meaningful, practical changes in their lives. Involving every member of the family and extended ‘ohana is how all our providers are trained. Of course, good community-based services don’t happen by accident. BHS provides the necessary and intensive training around confidentiality, boundaries, cultural practices, best-practice approaches, and safety to help our providers make a welcome difference in the community.

Every Specialty
We recruit and retain child and adult psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, peer support specialists, paraprofessional-level workers, interns, and post-docs. Our expert clinicians are culturally akamai, warm and welcoming, and protect clients’ confidentiality. We’re proud to say that our support staff and clinicians tend to stay with us for many years — many, from the beginning. And our clients report satisfaction upwards of 95%, year after year.

Quality Assurance, Grant and Proposal Writing, and Accreditation
We offer technical writing to create proposals, policies and procedures, and all manner of performance improvement documents. We’ve successfully taken agencies through CARF accreditation several times, along with ongoing State audits, plans of improvement, and credentialing procedures.
